Geogrophical division and racial stock

                   The well known mongoloid racial stock mainly inhabited in the central part of Arunachal Pradesh which has long inter state boundary with Assam in lower part and local territorial boundary with Adis,Tagin, Bori and Bokar in high hilly regions are known as Galos. It is specifically remain unresolved  till today how the word "Galo" came into being. Some sections of people uphold the sources that it has been derived from the name of lofty mountain 'Golo' from where the Galo ancestor descended and adopted the name'Galo'. Rocky mountains and high hilly region is a home for this tribe. Climatically all the Galo inhabited place are cool and humid except the lower part  bordering Assam.

Socio-Cultural and Traditional life of Galo

                     Among the tribes of Arunachal Pradesh, Galos are peace loving people having beautiful cultural traits. The institution known as KEBA plays a key role in rendering justice to the people and educating mass. Polygamy and polyandry is traditionally permissible practices among the non-Christian Galos. Its a patriarchal form of society where male or husband has bigger administrative responsibility than the female folk or wife. Rights of property is mainly enjoy by sons or male child of family, only movable properties can be shared with daughtter or female child.

Cultivation and food habit

                     Weat rice cultivation and jhum cultivation is widely practice by Galo people, about the 4 decades past a horticulture activities has tremendously improved in different levels thereby comercial cultivations have strongly taken its root, namely - orange, pineapple, kiwi and tea plantation etc. Rice is staple food, to grow in larger measure they timely cultivate rabi and kharif crops . Local rice beer/alcohol is a special stimulating drink to serve the guests particularly by non-Christian families.To a large extent Christians believers have avoided using such elements considering the spiritual aspect of life and to have healthy physical life.
